Mount Merino from Hudson, NY – This painting is by Hudson resident Henry Ary.  Considered a founding artist of The Hudson River School of painting, Ary captured this view from Promenade Hill in Hudson, NY in 1854.  He is known to have painted Mt. Merino several times during his life.

Lighthouse near Hudson, NY – Built in 1874, the lighthouse was situated to protect ships from a sandy ridge known as Middle Ground Flats.  It’s been a fixture of Hudson, New York’s river view ever since.  This image was the winner of a contest held to depict the building at its best.  Photo courtesy of Paul Abitabile.  Proceeds from the sale of this puzzle will support the Hudson Athens Lighthouse.

Autumn View of Hudson, NY – Painted in 1852, the actual name of this painting is Mount Merino and the City of Hudson in Autumn.  It was painted by Sanford Gifford, another founder of the Hudson River School of painters.  A Hudson resident since before his first birthday, he was an avid student of Catskill artist Thomas Cole.

A Catskill Sunset – With those distinctive Moorish arches of Olana in the foreground, the Rip Van Winkle Bridge spanning the Hudson River and the beautiful Catskill Mountains as a backdrop, this view makes for a challenging puzzle. A good combination of architecture and landscape.

Olana near Hudson, NY –Designed to incorporate Moorish influences with then current Victorian style, Olana is the work of architect Calvert Vaux with much input from both painter Frederic Church and his wife, Isabel.  Completed in 1872 it is one of the most distinctive landmarks in the Hudson area.
